Now a part of Covidien, Kendall originally started as a gauze manufacturer in 1940. The Kendall brand now produces a wide variety of medical dressings and devices. World War I brought a high demand for Kendall’s KERLIX rolls, once the war was over, demand for gauze rolls died down and Kendall decided it was time to branch out into other products. Kendall is now a leading provider in wound dressings; you have probably seen or used a KERLIX bandage without even realizing it.
KERLIX wound dressings are special because of what goes into them. Each dressing is made of 100% woven gauze which gives it a crinkle-weave pattern, this allows the dressing to breathe and still be very absorbent. Even the edges of the bandage are finished to reduce the amount of lint and loose ends. KERLIX rolls provide quick wicking action and are available in both sterile and non-sterile rolls. Additional wound dressings are offered by Kendall as well, such as gauze sponges and non-woven pads.
Wound dressings aren’t the only thing that Kendall is manufacturing these days. Kendall is a leading manufacturer in disposable medical supplies such as Disinfectants, Syringes, Undergarments, Waste Disposal Devices, Chemotherapy Protection Devices, Infusion Sets, Tracheostomy Cleaning Devices, Catheters, and Compression Bandages.
Medical waste can be a dangerous biological hazard and must be disposed of properly. Kendall provides a number of medical waste containers for this purpose. Sharp containers are a must have for any office using needles and syringes, and a Body Fluid Spill kit such as the Biobloc is always good to have on hand.
