While gait trainers can look similar to walkers, pediatric gait trainers provide more specialized support for kids who don’t have the functional skills to walk or the posture control to walk with a walker. Gait trainers come in all shapes, designs, and sizes, but in this blog we’re focusing on gait trainers for kids. There are numerous health benefits to being able to stand, and even more benefits from walking. Pediatric gait trainers help kids who aren’t currently able to stand and/or walk on their own gain the strength (bones and muscles), balance, coordination, and skills to reap t...

Did you know December and January are when gyms sell the most gym memberships? The most popular New Year resolutions are weight loss and to get in shape, and many of us (I know I have tried this) assume that buying the gym membership will be enough motivation. Sometimes it even works, but rarely for very long. Instead, here are some easy ways to get motivated to lose weight (and then stay motivated once you’ve started!): Be nice to yourself. One of the hardest parts is admitting and then deciding to lose weight so congratulate yourself for doing that! The negative records that play in ...

With the holiday season gearing up into full swing, most of us are more concerned about how big of a turkey (and then tree) to get than we are about our flexible spending account through work. Financial experts will tell you that is a big mistake – if you have a medical flexible spending account (FSA) through your employer and you don’t use that money by the end of the year then you’ll lose it. That’s right – use it or lose it. This is also the time of year for open enrollment for employee benefits, so if you haven’t been taking advantage of your ability to save through a FSA...

Living in Phoenix Arizona is great! The people are nice, there is always something to do, but there is one small problem. Right now it is over 100° outside, and things don’t seem to be cooling off anytime soon. That’s why I am so glad I found this seat cooler for my car! The Cooling Car Summer Seat Cushion does exactly what its name implies; it cools your seat down for you when you get into your car! They say that this seat cushion can be installed in almost every car, truck, and SUV available on the market. I am having a hard time believing that there is any vehicle that this won’t fit into.

The Cooling Car Summer Seat Cushion is powered by an adapter that plugs right into your cigarette lighter. A fan at the base of the seat then circulates air through the microfibers cooling the entire seat from bottom to top. The cushion is adjustable as well and allows you to change just how cold you want your seat to be. I like to set mine to the max right when I get in the car to cool the whole seat down, and then I usually turn it down a few minutes later, once the AC in my car has fully kicked in. Another cool feature is that this seat cooler will actually shut itself off after an hour of inactivity. In case you forget to turn you seat cooler off manually, you won’t be left with a dead battery the next morning.

It took me some time to find a seat cooler that I could justify purchasing for myself. Most of the seat coolers I found were priced between $80 & $150, but I found this seat cooler for about $50 on ActiveForever.com. What really sold me on this, wasn’t the price, it was the fact that they have an AC adaptor so I can use my seat cooler virtually anywhere. The AC adapter plugs right into the wall and allows you to cool off any chair in your home or office. This is definitely a must have item for anyone living in the heat!
