As a long time sufferer of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis, I have search for years and tried just about every suggested treatment, quick fix medication, and folklore remedy. Finally I have found a device that helps to relieve the pain as well as reduce the itching and swelling in the joints. Recently I began using the Light Relief Therapy unit; it is a small hand held unit that can be used directly on the surface of the skin to help relieve pain and inflammation by stimulating the body with infrared light produced by LEDs.
When placed directly over a sore spot, infrared rays penetrate the epidermal surface and help to increase circulation; this helps reduce muscle spasms, as well as pain and swelling. Placing the lighted pad directly over a Psoriasis eruption will help to relieve the itch and burn and allow the patches to begin the flattening process. Due to the fact that it works on the cellular circulation level, LED Infrared Light is now being recommended by Dermatologists specifically for the treatment of Psoriasis. Infrared Light Therapy was introduced originally for Equine us to help raise the performance levels without medications because it works on the cellular circulation level in a non-invasive way with no known side effects. (Source: Infrared treatment Equine)
This portable light weight hand-held unit is available with a flexible light pad along with an optional extra large pad that may be used on the larger surface areas of the body. Both pads are interchangeable with the hand held base which contains the controls. The basic Light Relief unit includes a removable pad containing 59 colored and infrared diodes that can be used at 4 different frequency settings; it also has a heat setting that can be added to your therapy. The removable pad is very flexible and comes with a Velcro strap that may be wrapped around any part of the body.
This accessory, purchased separately, is easily connected to the Light Relief base to be used on the larger areas of the body such as the upper or lower back, abdomen, and upper thigh. This extra large pad placed on the abdomen, is said to help relieve the symptoms of menstrual cramping and PMS. Infrared Led Light has also been suggested for treatment of wounds, poor circulation, pain and skin disorders, such Acne and aging.
