| The NaturalPoint SmartNav 4 Hands Free Mouse is a totally hands free assistive technology device designed for people with ALS, spinal cord injuries, muscular dystrophy, quadriplegia, and other physically limiting conditions. At a fraction of the cost of other alternative assistive devices, the hands free mouse is the perfect solution to using the computer which used to be impossible. | ![]() |
The NaturalPoint SmartNav 4 Hands Free Mouse comes with an infrared (IR) camera to be mounted on your computer to track your head movements. The user can either wear the SmartNav Hat or attach IR light reflecting dots to your head, glasses, or any body part you wish to control the mouse with. The light reflects to the camera, instantly monitoring your movement and translating into movement of the cursor on the computer screen. The cursor speed can be altered by the user. To “click” the cursor, press either the hot keys on the keyboard, plug a switch into the SmartNav 4 device, use the Dwell Clicking Software or hit the foot switches.
With two models designed for specific uses and conditions, the SmartNav 4 Hands Free Mouse is designed to make computers useful and convenient for everyone, regardless of any type of disability. True relief of and prevention of carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, repetitive strain injury, and other wrist strain related problems is given through use of the hands free mouse. You are able to control your computer’s mouse with subtle body movements rather than relying solely on your wrist. The hands free mouse is great for employees because the mouse helps to maintain and even increase productivity by preventing the need for injury claims and drastically reducing fatigue.
Unlike using a mouse that has you glued to the computer to use, the NaturalPoint SmartNav 4 Hands Free Mouse lets you be independent. Use the hands free mouse up to six feet away from the camera, so you can carry on with your other tasks. Now you can keep your status up to date on Facebook, follow your friends on Twitter, pay your bills, apply for that new job, and buy the groceries, without discomfort.
